BREAKING Donald Trump becomes first ex-US President to be charged in porn star scandal

Donald Trump has become the first former president to be charged with a crime.

The former president’s lawyer has said he has been told his client faces an indictment in New York, over allegations of “hush money” paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

A Grand Jury decision to indict Donald Trump means the 45th President of the United States is set for a stint behind bars over the Stormy scandal.

Now, speculation over how his arrest will be carried out is underway, with questions over whether the former president will be handcuffed dominating the indictment announcement.

Lawyers representing Mr Trump have confirmed the presidency candidate will surrender to face the charges, flying from Florida to New York to be taken in.

The former president is expected to be released after he is arraigned, given that the indictment will likely only contain nonviolent felony charges.

It comes as NYTimes suggest the charges could be used as part of Trump’s campaign strategy as the 76-year-old mounts another election campaign.

The grand jury indictment of Trump, 76, is an extraordinary development after years of investigations into his business, political and personal dealings.

The former president has made history by becoming the first POTUS to be formally indicted

It becomes the first ever criminal case against a former US president and a jolt to Mr Trump’s bid to retake the White House in 2024.

Trump’s upcoming appearance at the courthouse may take a few days to set in motion, but it looks certain that the former president will be fingerprinted, handcuffed and taken in over the “hush money” scandal.

Said scandal between the former president and porn star Daniels comes from a hush money payment made to the adult film star during the 2016 election campaign.

Daniels had claimed she and Trump had an affair during 2006, with the latter party denying the affair and asking then lawyer Michael Cohen to pay Daniels £104,000 ($139,000) for her silence.
