Harry Kane couldn’t wave bye to Spurs fans as they’d ‘all left at final whistle’
Rival fans joked that Harry Kane couldn’t wave goodbye to Spurs fans after the majority had left before the full-time whistle against Brentford.
Tottenham’s’ miserable season was further compounded by defeat against Brentford in their final home game of the season – which saw their hopes of securing a European finish take a massive dent.
Spurs took the lead through a sublime Kane strike from over 25 yards out in the opening ten minutes, but conceded three second half goals to lose 3-1 against Thomas Frank’s side.

The match was also Spurs’ last one at home this season and potentially Kane’s final game at home as a Tottenham player as rumours around a possible departure continue to swirl.
Kane has been linked prominently with Manchester United and Bayern Munich heading into the summer transfer window, whilst London rivals Chelsea have also been mooted given former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is in line to take the vacant Stamford Bridge job.
The 29-year-old’s future may have taken a pivotal turn today after United moved to within one point of securing Champions League football, while Spurs need results to go their way on the final day to even qualify for the Conference League.

Spurs fans’ anger with the Lilywhites’ season was evident by the lack of supporters that stayed to applaud the players during the lap of honour at the end of the game.
Lilywhites’ faithful and rival fans alike took to Twitter to mock Tottenham on what could have been Kane’s last interaction with the home fans as a Spurs player, one supporter said: “The ground is empty for the lap of appreciation. So Spursy we managed to bottle staying in the ground.”
A second comment wrote: “Kane gonna wave goodbye to an empty stadium.”
They’re all f***ing leaving before Harry Kane has a chance to wave bye bye to them,” another comment read.
Kane racked up his 28th Premier League goal of the season against Brentford in what has been the third most prolific league campaign of his career despite all of Tottenham’s troubles.
A Europa League spot will be beyond Spurs if Brighton win any of their final three league games still to play.
A Conference League spot is the best that Spurs could realistically achieve on the final day, but they’ll need Aston Villa to slip up against Brighton to stand any chance of leapfrogging Unai Emery’s side.
