‘Stranger liked my engagement ring till she realized what it is actually constituted of’

A woman confronted a judgemental stranger who only admired her ring when she believed it was a real diamond.

Kelsey Kotzur, a fashion influencer from New York, US, was ecstatically newly engaged with her dream ring fashioned from a moissanite gemstone. The naturally occurring mineral resembles a diamond and was historically called the “gemstone from the stars”.

Presently, it’s predominantly lab-crafted – an option more ethical and environmentally-friendly compared to diamond mining. It also comes at one-fourth of the usual diamond price. However, a cheaper engagement ring invites more scrutiny from others, as Kelsey experienced when a passer-by inquired about her ring at an event.

Kelsey Kotzur, a fashion influencer from Brooklyn, New York, was eager to show off her engagement ring

In a viral video garnering over 127,000 likes, Kelsey reprimanded the woman for only liking the ring when she thought it was a diamond. She shared: “I was at an event and this woman came up to me and said, ‘Oh my God, your ring is so beautiful. I’ve just been staring at it’.”

Kelsey, proud of her special engagement ring, flaunted it without any reservation. The woman then commented: “Oh my God, that must have cost a fortune!”

To which, Kelsey responded: “No, it’s a moissanite. It’s pretty affordable. It wasn’t too bad and the company we worked with are amazing.'”

But as soon as she mentioned her ring was moissanite, the woman seemed to lose interest, dismissing it as a “fake diamond.” Kelsey clapped back: “It’s a different stone. It looks like a diamond, I suppose, but like, could you couldn’t tell the difference, could you?”

The TikTok star slammed what she called “icky behaviour” ridiculing those who judge others based on their choice of engagement ring. She sarcastically quipped: “‘Oh, is that a real ring? ‘ Like, what the f**k does it look like? A watch?”

In her post caption, she declared: “If moissanite has one fan, it’s me.” Yet, not everyone shares her enthusiasm.

Viewers were split over the moissanite versus diamond debate in the comments section. One user stated firmly: “As a personal preference, I will never wear anything but a diamond.”

Others rallied behind Kelsey, insisting she should have whatever she desires for her ring. One supporter said: “LOVE my moissanite ring idk why people are so pressed about diamonds,” and another wrote: “I love that she literally couldn’t tell the difference and was still judgey lmao.”

Meanwhile this isn’t the first engagement ring to get people talking over on social media. Previously, a woman stunned fans when she showed off her tiny ring.

Kendall Demitry flaunted the bling which was so minuscule it couldn’t even fit on her finger. In the video, it shows the tiny charm in the palm of her boyfriend’s hand before he pretends to try and put it on her ring finger.
