Meet the TikTook sensation named after Zidane who is ready to star at Roland Garros
Tennis sensation and TikTok star Zizou Bergs continues his French Open journey on Wednesday, hoping to emulate sporting success parallel to his legendary namesake.
The qualifiers for the French Open got underway on Monday, but Wednesday’s action sees all eyes turn to the 24-year-old Belgian as he continues his Roland Garros dream in the homeland of the footballing icon he’s named after.
Bergs was always destined for sporting success with his forename being Real Madrid and French football legend Zinedine Zidane’s nickname ‘Ziziou’. Clearly the son of a football-mad family, it’s a different sport that he’s looking to make waves in.

Born in 1999, a year after Zidane won the World Cup and the Ballon d’Or, Bergs is currently ranked No.102 in the world off the back of his joint-best performance in the Australian Open at the beginning of this year – reaching the first round.
The Lommel-born talent almost pulled off an incredible upset in the Italian Open earlier this month as he took the opening set 6-4 against Rafael Nadal before the Spaniard hit back by winning the following two sets to squeeze past Bergs.

And buoyed by his recent tournament showing, Bergs completed a comfortable straight sets victory over Frenchman Clement Chidekh in the first qualifying round at Roland Garros to set up a second qualifying round tie against fellow countryman Joris De Loore on Wednesday.
Bergs has played most of his tennis on the ATP Challenger tour in 2024, winning the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger and finishing runner-up at the Sarasota Open.
But his encouraging performance against Nadal last time out could be the spark he needs to take on the main tour.
Away from the court, the Belgian has built a massive following on social media where he has over 42,000 followers on Instagram, but it’s his TikTok page that has seen him reach a new height of fame with him currently having over 75k followers and 2.9million likes, as well as three videos all surpassing 1m views each.
Bergs content on TikTok usually revolves around his tennis career on and off the court, while other videos show his day-to-day activities and sees his girlfriend also making rare appearances in short videos and trends.
