Prem cult hero, 42, ‘searching for new problem’ weighs up provides from Senegal
Former Blackburn Rovers winger Morten Gamst Pedersen is still playing at the age of 42 and is reportedly ‘looking for a new challenge’.
The left-midfielder is a Premier League cult hero after spending nine years at Blackburn between 2004 and 2013, playing 348 times and scoring 47 goals in all competitions for the Ewood Park side.
Pedersen was renowned for having a wand of a left foot and was a crucial part of the Blackburn team that qualified for the UEFA Cup in 2006 and 2007 and narrowly missed out on qualification for the Intertoto Cup in 2008 – a now defunct competition.

The 83-time Norway international left Blackburn for Turkish side Kardemir Karabukspor in 2013 but returned to his homeland with Rosenborg just a year later. Pedersen since spent three years at his first senior club Tromso before spells at Alta, Asane and Ranheim in the far north of the Norwegian footballing wilderness.
Pedersen left second division side Ranheim earlier this year, but according to SportBible, the free agent has had a few offers to make his next move, including one club from Senegal, with him apparently “ready for an adventure” in his early 40s.

The Norwegian starred in the Blackburn side which also boasted the likes of Brad Friedel, David Bentley, Tugay and current Manchester United coach and Champions League-winning striker Benni McCarthy.
One of Pedersen’s most prolific partners at Ewood Park, Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz, is also still playing at the age of 42; after he joined Manchester City in 2009 following a 19-goal campaign during the 2007/08 season.
Santa Cruz spent a forgettable four years at City as his form deserted him, later joining Malaga in Spain on a permanent deal before signing for Mexican side Cruz Azul and since returning to Paraguay with Olimpia and currently still turning out for Libertad.
