Liverpool followers joke it is over for Nunez as Arne Slot targets Ollie Watkins
Liverpool fans have joked it’s over for Darwin Nunez with it reported that Arne Slot is eyeing up a move for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
Watkins was in scintillating form last season for Villa as his 19 Premier League goals fired Unai Emery’s side to a Champions League spot and unsurprisingly, the England star is set to be hot property this summer.
This spells bad news for the misfiring Nunez who was out of form at the end of the season, going without a goal in his last ten games for the Reds. His apparent snub to Jurgen Klopp on his farewell at Anfield paired with him deleting all pictures of Liverpool from his Instagram have caused some Reds to turn on the Uruguayan.

According to The Sun, Watkins is admired by Slot and Villa are braced for Liverpool to launch a bid for their star man. It’s said that the Reds have doubts over Nunez who could be on his way out of the Anfield exit door if reported interest materialises.
Liverpool fans have now stopped defending the indefensible of Nunez’s wastefulness in front of goal, as one Red claimed: “We win the league with Isak/Watkins instead of Nunez”.

Watkins has been selected in Gareth Southgate’s 33-man training squad ahead of Euro 2024 but it remains to be seen whether he has impressed enough this season to make the 26-man team that will travel to the finals in Germany next month.
Nunez missed 27 big chances in the Premier League last season, only second to Erling Haaland. The 24-year-old managed 11 goals in the league and a further seven in the Europa League and domestic cup competitions.
