Wimbledon hopeful Katie Boulter digs out associate Alex De Minaur over Insta declare
Tennis ace Katie Boulter left fans in stitches after joking that her beau Alex De Minaur has a secret shower habit.
The 25-year-old sports star, who recently engaged with his followers in a cheeky Q&A for Asics Tennis on Instagram, was asked if he sings while scrubbing up – to which, he replied: “That’s a great question! Probably not a lot of people know this but I don’t really sing in the shower. I’m a little bit boring. What can I say?”
However, 27-year-old partner Boulter wasn’t having any of it and quickly jumped into the comments to call him out, teasing: “Don’t lie to the people. I’ve heard I’m a Barbie girl a couple times.” The banter didn’t stop there, reports the Express. Fans were quick to react, flooding the post with laughing emojis and playful jibes.

One fan chimed in with a grateful: “Thank you Katie!” While another egged her on, saying: “Spill all his secrets!” Another declared: “I knew it!” And another quipping about De Minaur’s extensive shoe collection went on: “With more than 100 pairs of shoes? Definitely he does.” Not missing a beat, De Minaur himself slid into the conversation with a shushing emoji, adding to the hilarity.
Wimbledon is just around the corner, with the draw for the opening matches set to take place on Friday (June 28) before the players hit the courts on Monday (July 1). Boulter, GB’s top-ranked female singles player, will be entering the tournament by seed for the first time in her career.
Despite boasting three WTA Tour titles and seven ITF Circuit cups, she has only ever managed to reach the third round of Wimbledon as a single player. She’s currently gearing up for the London-based Grand Slam by participating in the Eastbourne International this week, having already triumphed over Petra Martic 6-1 and 7-6 in the round of 32.
On the other hand, Australian De Minaur could face some tough competition when his name is drawn on Friday, potentially going up against defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, household name Novak Djokovic or World No1 Jannik Sinner on his first day on the courts. He’ll be hoping to improve on his fourth-round singles exit from the tournament back in 2022 this summer, having climbed to ninth in the world off the back of a positive 2024 so far.
