England’s WAG Force One fly in non-public jets price £40m to see stars for six hours

England‘s WAGs flew into Germany to toast the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 Great Escape – in a squadron of private jets worth £40 million.

Six WAG Air flights touched down within 33 minutes at tiny Erfurt Weima Airport 30 miles from the team’s hotel in Blankenhain.

Three arrived from Dusseldorf – where England pulled off their remarkable last minute comeback victory against Slovakia in Sunday’s last-16 clash – one from nearby Dortmund and the others from Birmingham and Liverpool.

The aircraft flew a total of 5,150 miles for the six-hour hook-up. That will create around 140 tonnes of carbon dioxide. To offset the effects of such a carbon footprint on global warming the WAGs would need to plant 6,440 trees.

Among those on board was striker Jarrod Bowen’s reality TV star girlfriend Dani Dyer.

The 27-year-old former Love Island winner is the daughter of tough guy actor Danny Dyer who played Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter and starred in movies Human Traffic, Mean Machine and The Football Factory.

Also on board were the wives of three England goalkeepers – Jordan Pickford’s partner Megan, 28, Aaron Ramsdale’s Georgina Irwin, 28, and Dean Henderson’s.

Among the others were Declan Rice’s partner Lauren Fryer, 25, Ollie Watkins’ interior designer sweetheart Ellie Alderson, 28, and Ivan Toney’s girlfriend Katie Bio, 28.

Also part of WAG Force One were Luke Shaw’s partner Anouska Santos, 32, and Conor Gallagher’s dancer and model girlfriend Aine May Kennedy, 27.

The players’ loved ones were met on the runaway by a fleet of shuttle buses which ferried them to the airport’s VIP terminal.

From there they were driven to the team’s Weimarer Land Spa and Golf Resort where manager Gareth Southgate allowed them some private time with the players ahead of Saturday’s quarter-final against Switzerland.

Staff were stunned by the sudden influx of jets at an airport which usually boasts just one flight-a-day.

Singer Ed Sheeran flew in to visit the team the day before.

A source said: “This has been a very exciting time for the airport. It’s not the biggest.

“Usually we only have one departure a day so to see so many aircraft is quite something. We do not get many famous people through our doors.

“To have all these stars is special. We were excited enough when we heard the England team would be flying in.

“But we had Ed Sheeran through here yesterday. It does not get much bigger than that. It was great to see the players’ wives as well.’’

The biggest of the jets – a 14-seater Embraer Legacy 650 E – would cost £24m new.

The rest ranged from £1.6m to £7.5m.

Aviation experts said the fleet of aircraft would have cost around £420,000 to hire.

Though the Football Association may have helped coordinate the WAGs’ travel arrangements the bill is likely to be picked up by the players.

All six jets were scheduled to fly back to the UK tonight – two to London, two more to Manchester and others to Birmingham.

The families have been allowed to visit the players after every match in the tournament.

Harry Kane said he was “not sure” the players were “happy” spending seven hours with their WAGs and kids after the 1-1 group match against Denmark.

Burger trucks and a bouncy castle were brought in to keep everyone entertained.

Though the England captain said seeing his family was “great” he said seven hours of fun may have been too much for some – and they may have to ‘cut that down’ in future.

Harry said: “We had a bit of time with the families which is great.”

“There is always that stage of the tournament where you are just starting to miss your families a little bit and miss the kids.

“It was great to see them the day after the game. It was just a family day.

“We had seven hours with the family which I’m not sure the lads were quite happy about. It was pretty hectic to be fair so we might cut that down in the future.’’

Harry said the experience was “important” in helping players “switch their minds off.”

“The hotel is fantastic. Full credit to the guys and girls from the FA for putting everything on,’’ he said.

“We had a bit of everything in there. We had the golf in there, the football, we had burger trucks and a bouncy castle with everything.

“It was just a really good day, a good chance for some of the families we haven’t met or some players to meet other players’ kids that you hear about and don’t always get to meet.

“I think we’ve done a really good job at that in not just this tournament, but other tournaments as well – just making sure you have time to switch off and be with them. Because they’re, you know, a huge part.

“And you do miss them during long spells away. It was a fun day – just maybe a little too long.’’

The WAGs returned to the UK on board the six jets which took off from Erfurt Weimar Airport over a 45-minute period over night.

Harry Kane’s wife Kate left for Munich aboard a seventh plane.
