Colorado farmer removes enormous monolith that appeared randomly

A monolith that mysteriously appeared on a Colorado farm has been removed after the owner complained too many people came to see it.

The giant metal structure showed up on the Morning Fresh Dairy Farm in Bellvue in June.

Similar structures have been popping up across the US as well as the UK, Canada, Romania and further afield since late 2020.

Farm owner Lori Graves announced on Facebook they took down the monolith using a tractor on Wednesday ‘due to the overwhelming influx of people on the farm.’

‘It’s been quite overwhelming. We’re having a lot of problems with trespassers and people being disrespectful and leaving trash all over the place,’ Graves told The Denver Post

She said one visitor drove their car through the corn fields killing the crops that provide food for the company’s cows and others have hopped fences or cut the barbed wire.

‘It does upset me when people can’t be respectful and careful and take care of the hill that was in a natural state before,’ Graves said.

‘There’s a very marked trail up it now, it’s been flattened. When there’s rain it’s going to rush down (the trail) and start eroding the hill.’

The shiny metal structure stands about 9 feet tall, 4 feet wide and 8 inches deep.

The farmer is keeping the monument safe and said who ever created it can come pick it up by contacting them at [email protected].

Graves told KDVR she had no idea the structure was being built and did not learn about until customers came into her cafe asking to see it.

‘It was Sunday morning when someone came into the cafe and said, “Where is the monolith? Where is the alien monolith,”‘ she said.

Graves has her suspicions on who erected the structure but is hesitant to name them.

‘I have ideas, but I almost don’t want to ruin the mystery around it. I’m not going to ask people,’ the farmer said.

‘Whoever did the monolith thing had to be a multi-step because they would have had to put the concrete up there and let it set before they put the monolith up there.’
