Jadon Sancho reveals true colors with message to rival for Man Utd spot Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho is poised to be Jadon Sancho‘s main rival for playing time if the England star stays at Manchester United.

However, instead of gearing up for a showdown next season, Sancho has shown support for Garnacho after he celebrated another significant trophy win in his young career. The 20-year-old winger was part of the Argentina team that successfully defended their Copa America title, defeating Colombia 1-0 in extra-time in a fiercely contested final.

Garnacho’s latest triumph comes after his substantial contribution to United’s 13th FA Cup victory, where he scored the first goal in a 2-1 win against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium. After securing his place as a first-team player in Erik ten Hag‘s inaugural season, he further solidified his role as a key part of his plans last term.

Garnacho made 50 appearances across all competitions – a figure only surpassed by Andre Onana’s 51 – and started United’s last 38 games, reports the Express. Ten Hag’s decision to move him to the right wing, with Marcus Rashford often playing on the left, turned out to be a brilliant move.

This helped compensate for the loss of Sancho, who only played three times before being sidelined due to a public disagreement over his omission from the trip to Arsenal on September 3. The 24-year-old effectively labelled Ten Hag a liar for stating he was absent from the 3-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium due to subpar training performances.

After refusing to say sorry, Sancho was sidelined from the main squad for a hefty four months before he zipped back to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the latter half of the previous season. In the meantime, Garnacho snagged the spot as Ten Hag’s top pick for right winger, leaving Antony and Amad Diallo trailing behind in the squad depth.

Sancho’s now got a mammoth task ahead to worm his way back into the gaffer’s good books and give Garnacho a run for his money when it comes to getting on the pitch. Despite the competition, there’s no bad blood between them, with Sancho giving a big thumbs up to Garnacho’s Insta post about bagging the Copa America trophy.

Garnacho, who only got a single game under his belt at the comp, shared a snap of him clutching the cup, with the words: “The Champions of America!” Sancho shot over a pair of emojis one all heart-eyed and the other with fingers crossed chucking a bit of brotherly love and kudos to his fellow forward.

Sancho turned up at Carrington last week, ready to roll for pre-season, with United top brass saying he’s set to feature again. Ten Hag also revealed they have put their tiff to bed. He said: “Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player.”

Post his stint helping the German league hotshots make it to the Champions League final, everyone thought Sancho was a shoo-in for a permanent move. While he might still pack his bags if the right cash offer comes along to pump up INEOS’ funds, chances are looking up for him sticking around at Old Trafford.
