Russia have allegedly ‘heightened security as photos circulating online have reportedly shown a heavily-armoured Chinese car spotted on the streets of Moscow.

Shared on Telegram, on Thursday (August 29), the car in question is believed to have been purchased from the Chinese state-owned Dongfeng Motor Corporation and adorns a logo of Moscow’s subway service.

After sharing the photo of the military-grade car, Avtobusy y Vobbechle, a Russian-language Telegram channel, wrote “Moscow Metro continues to arm itself.”

It comes as security measures were ramped up in the Russian capital following protests against President Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Those protesting were also standing against the March 22 Islamic State-Khorasan Province terrorist attack that left 146 dead at the Crocus City Hall music venue, as reported by Newsweek.

The tactical vehicle was bought by the security department responsible for the Russian capital’s subway system, according to the post on Telegram.

However, a pro-Kremlin media outlet has said the vehicle, which is worth millions, is registered as “civilian special equipment” and has the type of licence plate that is reserved for tractors.

This was disputed by Ukrainian media outlet, Militarnyi, who dubbed it as a “anti-terrorism” armoured vehicle. Militarnyi also reported that the vehicle boosts an armoured turret that can accommodate a machine gun.

Elsewhere, an abandoned estate, known as “Britain’s Chernobyl,” is set to be finally knocked down – despite the final residents’ refusal to budge.
