Tennis star with fortune price billions can take residence much more in US Open remaining
Jessica Pegula is on the brink of making tennis history after securing a spot in the US Open final.
The 30-year-old is chasing her first Grand Slam title, and a victory over Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday could be a defining moment in her career – though not financially transformative. While the champion will earn a hefty $3.6million (£2.7million), for Pegula, it’s a relatively small sum compared to her immense wealth.
Pegula’s financial standing comes largely from her father, Terry Pegula, a billionaire business tycoon who owns the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, among other assets. His estimated net worth of $7billion (£5.3billion) means Jessica stands to inherit a fortune.

However, Pegula doesn’t rely on her family’s wealth to get by. She’s earned more than £10m in prize money throughout her career and is guaranteed at least another $1.8m (£1.4m) this weekend, regardless of the result.
Her impressive run at Flushing Meadows has been somewhat unexpected, considering her struggles earlier in the season. She was eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the Olympics, making her US Open surge all the more remarkable.

The New York native has lost just one set in the tournament, that coming in her semi-final victory over Karolina Muchova. Prior to that, she defeated Shelby Rogers in the opening round (6-4, 6-3) and overcame Sonya Kenin, who had upset Emma Raducanu, in the second round (7-6, 6-3).
Pegula continued her strong form by defeating Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-3, 6-3) and dispatching Diana Shnaider (6-4, 6-2) in the third and fourth rounds, respectively. Her quarter-final win over World No. 1 Iga Swiatek was a landmark victory, solidifying her place in the semi-finals for the first time in her career, after falling in six previous quarter-finals between 2021 and 2023.
Terry Pegula, listed by Forbes as the 373rd-richest person in the world, made his fortune in oil and gas and now owns several sports teams, including the Buffalo Bills (NFL), Buffalo Sabres (NHL), Rochester Americans (AHL), and Buffalo Bandits (NLL).
