Inside Mourinho’s luxurious £1,000-per-night room as he elects to remain in lodge

Jose Mourinho expects the best both on and off the pitch and his new affluent home in Istanbul certainly gives him that.

The former Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss is currently in charge of Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce. While he’s had to rapidly adjust to a new life in Turkey it’s been made easier by luxurious surroundings in the Four Seasons Hotel where he is currently staying.

Mourinho opted to base himself out of the hotel – where the cheapest suite costs £1,000 a night – rather than move into a rented property in Istanbul as his club suggested.

It isn’t the first time the Portuguese coach has set up shop in a five-star location either after he chose to live at The Lowry during his stint in Manchester.

The five-star Four Seasons in Istanbul sits on the banks of the famous Bosphorus Strait and is a former palace. It boasts incredible views with several amenities to keep the special one busy during his downtime, including beautiful gardens and delightful terraces.

Mourinho also has the choice of multiple pools both indoor and outdoor with the restaurant having all his meals covered. The 61-year-old likes to keep things simple though and reportedly orders the same three courses of chicken soup, Margherita pizza and ice cream every night.

He sometimes treats himself to the odd kebab at a local shop to fuel him ahead of big ties domestically and in Europe. And they don’t come bigger than this week, as Mourinho and Fenerbahce prepare to host his former club United in the Europa League.

The Red Devils have been poor this season and pressure is mounting on their current manager Erik ten Hag. The chance to get one over on his former club, having left on bad terms, will only motivate Mourinho more.

Fenerbahce have only lost at home once this season in a fiercely contested derby against Galatasaray, so the trip will be tough for United.

Jose is settling into life in Istanbul well though, and is already loved by the Fenerbahce faithful. The Turkish are known for being very welcoming and the hospitality he’s received so far both at his new football home and his new personal one is fit for a king.
