Sir Mo Farah comes out of retirement as he ‘chases down thugs who nicked telephone’

Long-distance running legend Sir Mo Farah demonstrated his champion mentality when he chased down potential thieves in his gated community. The retired Olympic distance runner displayed his prowess last week while out for a run with his wife, Tania.

After leaving his phone on the side of a private road to collect later, a large white van with two men inside pulled up. One man grabbed the phone and they drove off.

However, they were spotted by Sir Mo who, according to an eyewitness, took off at ‘Olympic speed’ and ‘full throttle’ after the vehicle. When the culprits realised who was chasing them, they quickly returned the phone before speeding away, according to the Daily Mail.

But Sir Mo is reportedly livid about the incident, given that it occurred on no ordinary road. He and his wife reside in a plush 964-acre gated community, reassured by the extensive security on site.

Hence, the 5,000 and 10,000-metre champion is utterly perplexed as to how the suspects managed to bypass the 24-hour security detail. A source informed the Mail on Sunday that an investigation into the incident has been initiated, reports the Express.

The 41 year old chose not to comment on the incident. This follows his announcement of retirement after finishing fourth at Tyneside’s Great North Run in September last year, a race he had previously clinched a record six times.

Sir Mo has been married to Tania, also a long-distance runner, for 14 years, having known her since their younger days when they were both part of the same West London running club.
