BREAKING Shamed ref David Coote engulfed by betting repair declare as FA launches probe
Shamed Premier League referee David Coote has denied issuing a yellow card as part of a betting fix.
The official was accused of discussing a giving a yellow card to a player before a match, reports The Sun. The FA are now said to be urgently investigating the highly damaging claims.
The football ruling body reportedly said it was looking into these “very serious allegations as a matter of urgency”. Coote, 42, denies any wrongdoing.

But The Sun says Coote has acknowledged that a conversation took place but maintains it was merely “banter” and nothing improper occurred.
The PGMOL, the referees’ body which had previously suspended Coote this month over a foul-mouthed tirade about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, is now scrutinising these new “very serious allegations”.
In addition, the FA has also initiated a separate investigation “as a matter of urgency” into the messages exchanged before and after a Leeds United versus West Bromwich Albion match in October 2019.
