The former Atletico Madrid man has seemingly waited no time to get stuck in and he’s already eyeing up a new striker for the Gunners who have faltered in front of goal.

Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko have all been linked with a move to north London – and Berta will now be tasked with delivered one of the stars to the Emirates Stadium. Daily Star Sport has a look at the round-up of Arsenal news across the past 24 hours.

The Gunners haven’t tasted Premier League glory in over two decades – and they’ll need a big summer if they’re to touch the rarified air of league champions come what May next season.

And with Andrea Berta being announced as Arsenal’s new sporting director – after Edu Gaspar stepped down in November – he’s set to go all out for Newcastle United’s Swedish star Alexander Isak.

According to football.London, Newcastle do not want to sell, but a big-money offer may see them with little choice but to entertain it. It’s now down to the Gunners and if they’ll stump up the cash.

Viktor Gyokeres was the transfer saga of the winter – and that now looks to spill over to the summer with Arsenal’s new sporting director a ‘long time admirer’ of the striking sensation.

Arsenal will face tough competition for his signature – with Barcelona and Manchester United also sniffing around. He admitted earlier this season that he hopes to play for “one of the best teams in Europe” soon.

When asked about his future ahead of the January transfer window, Gyokeres told Marca: “We will see. “My goal? To play for one of the best teams in Europe.

“That is the objective. It has been difficult at times. I have played many seasons in the Championship.

“It is a very good and tough league, but it is clear that I have always wanted to play in some important league.”

“Now, we’re close to achieving our goal (staying up). But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”

Cunha’s £62.5m release clause activates in the summer – and Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on the Brazilian.

However, they will face competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest, who have also been linked.
