Shocking second man will get ‘knocked out chilly’ as boozy brawl erupts at Aintree on Grand National Day

Carnage unfolded at Aintree Racecourse at the weekend as men dressed in suits fell to the ground after a fight broke out in the stands.

Shocking footage shows the moment a spectator puts two others in a headlock before another person falls flat faced to the ground.

Horrified onlookers can be seen watching on, with some stepping in to restrain one particularly violent individual who tries to throw punches.

The chaos took place on the second day of Aintree Racecourse in Merseyside, near Liverpool on the much-anticipated Grand National Day.

A woman with sunglasses points in disbelief at a young man who lies unmoving on the floor by a rubbish bag.

It comes as separate photos showed drunk attendees elsewhere enjoying the sunshine – some falling to the ground and others holding bottles of prosecco high up in the air.

Commenting on the video, one person said: ‘How do you even drop from a punch like that.’

Another added: ‘It’s utter chaos. Hope everyone survived.’

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: ‘Officers were made aware of a disturbance involving a small group of men following the Grand National race on Saturday, 5 April, after receiving reports from staff working in the Queen Mother Stand.

‘Officers responded to the incident, which occurred at about 4.30pm, but those involved had already left the stand.

‘A 35-year-old man was located outside the Queen Mother Stand and was given first aid to an injury to his head.

‘Officers spoke to the man who confirmed he had suffered the injury following a disturbance in the Queen Mother Stand, but he refused to co-operate before leaving.’

The 2025 Grand National was the 177th annual running of the Grand National horse race.

From an initial 90 entries, 34 started, with 16 finishing. It was won by Patrick Mullins riding Nick Rockett.

A day earlier, the champagne flowed freely at Aintree as the booze-fuelled Ladies Day celebrations got underway.

As the warmest day of the year wore on, attendees cooled off with glasses of chilled prosecco, rosé, and cocktails while watching the races – before kicking off their wedge heels and settling in for a night of revelry.
