Man Utd information: Ruben Amorim names what they’re lacking as potential substitute lands position
Ruben Amorim has had a torrid start to the season with Manchester United – and it could get even worse on Saturday as the Red Devils square off with Sunderland
Manchester United are already facing a crunch clash that could define their Premier League season.
Ruben Amorim’s fallen giants showed signs of getting back to their best against Chelsea, only to come crashing back down against Brentford. And it doesn’t get any easier, as they face high-flying Sunderland.
United don’t just need three points to already save their season, Amorim might be hoping it will save his job. However, there are already several candidates waiting in the wings – including ex-England boss Gareth Southgate.
Daily Star Sport rounds up all the latest stories from Old Trafford across the last 24 hours…
Ruben Amorim names what Man Utd are missing
Ruben Amorim thinks he knows what is going wrong for the Red Devils.
Speaking ahead of the Sunderland clash, Amorim told TNT Sports’ Owen Hargreaves: “We need leaders, but sometimes what I am thinking is we need some crazy guys. Cunha is a little bit like that, he’s a guy that is a good guy, but he doesn’t care who you are.
“Whenever he is there in that position, ‘I will go with the ball’. This kind of feeling, we need that… We need to forget the past and we need sometimes crazy guys. Sometimes it’s not just the leader, but it’s those maverick guys we need in the team.
Michael Carrick lands new job
Michael Carrick, who has previously held a caretaker role in the United hot seat, has landed a surprising new footballing role after being linked with the United job.
Carrick had been flying high to Middlesbrough, but left the Riverside in June after a disappointing 10th-placed finish. And he’s now been appointed as a UEFA Technical Observer.
His expertise were used in the Champions League during PSG’s 2-1 win over Barcelona.
Ruben Amorim told to make ‘drastic’ Bruno Fernandes decision
Owen Hargreaves has called upon Ruben Amorim to get the best out of Ruben Amorim.
Speaking on TNT Sports, the ex-United midfielder said: “Bruno has to play deeper to get on the ball and create. He’s not playing his natural position, he’s playing deeper.
“He’s playing as a box-to-box midfielder. Bruno is one of the best creators in the division. So you’ve got to play him in his natural position!”
