Justin Bieber movies unlikely music video in closed bar in Dundee throughout Scotland journey – as supervisor reveals the singer requested him to open it only for him

The manager of a Dundee bar where Justin Bieber filmed his new music video has revealed how he randomly turned up and took over.

Rai Wright, 24, runs the Bird and Bear pub, which has an adjoining night club Abandon Ship which was closed at the time.

However, she agreed to open up the nightspot for Bieber, 31, which saw him do shots of whisky, down pints of Guinness and play drinking games on Saturday night.

He headed there straight from St Andrews, where he had amazed customers by popping in for fish and chips as well as a beer at the Cromars restaurant.

Last night Bieber, 31, posted the new video online for his latest hit ‘Bad Honey’.

Rai said: ‘He literally just walked in like a guy off the street. It was around 7pm.

‘We were all standing at the bar and he said, “Is there any way we can some DJing in here and get some decks?”.

‘If you asked me if I recognised him, I’d say yes and no. It was the hat…it was just an odd concept as I wasn’t expecting to see him. It’s not something you see in Dundee often. He asked if he could DJ and create some club vibes.

‘I was like, we don’t have decks specifically, we have sound systems where you can plug into and DJ that way.

‘He asked if he could go to the venue next door. I think someone told him about it.

‘It was actually closed as we were short-staffed. When he rocked up, we couldn’t really say no.

‘I said we could open it up if they wanted to play some music and have some fun with that. So we opened up and they were just filming and taking photos.

‘We threw the lights on and got them connected to the speakers to play whatever they needed to. They had their speaker too.

‘One of the guys was just DJing the entire time, just on our little Spotify going through it all.

‘He was quite happy with it all. I got told a music video could be potentially coming out with it.’

The video has been liked by more than 116,000 people on the singer’s Instagram account.

Bieber posted the video to his social media channels on Monday night with the message ‘Bad Honey video for your headtops’.

The bar shared the video on its Facebook page, posting: ‘You might have heard we had a special visitor over the weekend. Enjoy Justin Bieber laying down a new video for Bad Honey live at Abandon Ship right here in Dundee, Scotland.’

Bieber had earlier posted a picture of himself in the club which has ‘Not everything sucks’ emblazoned on the wall.

Rai said: ‘The photo he posted had little me handing a pint over, I’m famous.

‘They kept ordering shots, including picklebacks. It’s from the prohibition era So you have a shot of whisky followed up by a shot of pickle juice. The pickle juice hides the smell of the alcohol.

‘That was one thing they had, I don’t think he liked it. He had it then moved swiftly onto the Tequila again.

‘He was loving the Guinness and drank quite a few of those. He was outside smoking a lot, the bodyguard just stood there next to him.

‘All the interactions I had with him were lovely.

‘I gave him a pack of cards and he was like, ‘I’m going to look after them, dont worry’. I said ‘I know where you are’.

‘They ended up playing a drinking game called ‘Ring of Fire’ which uses playing cards.

‘Each card has a rule on it. When you draw a card you have to do whatever rule is associated with it. That was interesting, there were cards everywhere, I’m still finding them.

‘People were turning up asking where he was. Some managed to get their way in and there was a little party going on.

‘He was totally amicable.

‘It was a no-picture area, people were filming but were politely asked not to.

‘He brought a big speaker. He was quite happy with what was happening. He sat in the corner and set up a nice spot for himself. It was great.

‘He was a great guy. The people he was with, his posse, were lovely as well. It was quite nice to see, They took care of us as much as we took care of them, They said whatever makes our lives easier we can do.

‘I politely turned the lights on at 12am. He then moved over to one of our sister venue Nola. He was slowly moving through the venues.

‘It was very odd for a Saturday night, I wasn’t ready for it.’
