Harry Maguire to ‘snub Saudi mega-deal’ if Man Utd supply him bumper new contract

Harry Maguire will turn down a move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League if Manchester United offer him a new deal – with his current contract set to expire in June

Harry Maguire would snub a mega-deal from Saudi Arabia if Manchester United offered him a new contract.

Maguire is out of contract in June – and has become a target of Saudi outfits Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq. The England defender will be free to open talks with clubs in the next transfer window.

And Maguire would be in line to pocket a deal worth around £500,000-a-week. Maguire will be 33 in March, and could be tempted to cash in on what would be the last lucrative move of his career.

But United are considering handing the defender a contract extension. Talks will take place in the coming weeks, but Maguire will want assurances the deal is right for him.

Maguire knows joining the Saudi Pro-League would damage his chances of extending his England career.

But if he pledges his future to United, he wants to know he will remain an integral pat of the club’s plans, whoever is the manager.

In an ideal world, Maguire would be willing to see out the rest of his career at Old Trafford.

But he is mindful the next deal he signs will be the last major one of his career, and the terms would have to be right.

The centre back has won 68 England caps, and is hoping to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the next World Cup.

Maguire isn’t the only United star linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and Bruno Fernandes has opened up about a possible move: “I didn’t close the door on moving to Saudi Arabia because of the World Cup.

“That was never in my mind. I wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the club wanted me to stay. That’s all there is to it. That’s an impossible scenario to imagine, because it’s nothing that’s been discussed with me…

“I’m happy where I am; otherwise, I wouldn’t have stayed, but it’s something that doesn’t affect me.”
