Ange Postecoglou sacked as Evangelos Marinakis swings axe minutes after Chelsea thrash Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Nottingham Forest just minutes after their 3-0 thrashing by Chelsea.
Less than 20 minutes after the full-time whistle blew at the City Ground following another crushing loss in the Premier League, Postecoglou was fired by owner Evangelos Marinakis. The Australian manager had just set a rotten record by becoming the first manager in the club’s history to win none of his first eight games.
A statement from Forest, reads: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Marinakis left his seat in the stands for long periods during the defeat, which saw Chelsea score three goals in the second-half after Forest wasted several opportunities in the first half. Former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch, speaking on TNT Sports who covered the game live, said: “The empty seat spoke volumes.
“It was pretty obvious that the decision was going to be made. I thought he [Evangelos Marinakis] might let the dust settle for a couple of hours, but this chairman doesn’t mess about.”
His colleague, former England manager Glenn Hoddle added: “To leave his [Evangelos Marinakis] seat after 60 minutes that was a statement in itself. I’m surprised he has done it so quickly after the game.
“Eight games they’ve not gone well, but after eight matches as a manager, it’s no time at all. Surely he has got to be given more time than that.”
