Van driver’s fortunate escape after backing into Specsavers

A person was hurt after a UPS van crashed into a Specsavers, causing the store to close for the day.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to Ledbury High Street in Herefordshire at 10am on Tuesday.

One person sustained ‘very minor injuries’ and the store reopened this morning after being closed throughout the day.

A Specsavers spokesperson said they were ‘incredibly thankful it wasn’t more serious’.

They added: ‘Our teams worked quickly to assess the damage, making sure the building is safe and we’re pleased to say the store is now back open and trading as usual.

‘We really appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding whilst we got things sorted.’

Paramedics were stood down before arriving at the scene, as the injuries were not serious.

Two fire crews were called and firefighters were seen removing glass and debris.
