Lettuce Liz Truss has backed the Greens as the subsequent official opposition occasion
The former Tory leader said: “I think there’s a certain kind of honesty about the Green Party that you don’t see in the Labour Party”
Lettuce Liz Truss has backed the Greens as she praised the left-wing party. Britain’s shortest-serving PM, who lasted just 49 days in office before wilting, reckons the Green party will end up becoming the official opposition.
The former Tory leader, who was famously outlasted by the Daily Star’s lettuce, said: “I think there’s a certain kind of honesty about the Green Party that you don’t see in the Labour Party.”
Lettuce Liz claimed that people are sick of “technocratic managerial crap” in politics. The ex-MP also insisted she will not be joining Reform UK in the foreseeable future, despite slamming her own party’s record in office.
She also hit back at Rachel Reeves after the Labour Chancellor blamed her disastrous mini-budget for Britain’s economic woes.
Lettuce Liz said: “I think she is a disingenuous liar. I have no time for Rachel Reeves. I don’t think she’s telling the truth about what is wrong with the British economy.
“I think she’s desperate… the public are now cottoning on to the fact that our country is in serious trouble.”
She accused Ms Reeves of having bought the “false narrative” about her budget from the Bank of England and is now “being hung on her own petard”.
Turning her criticism to the Conservative party, Lettuce Liz accused leader Kemi Badenoch of being indecisive about who they represent.
“And what Nigel Farage has done is he has moved into that space,” she added. “That’s an existential threat for the Conservative Party. I don’t believe the Conservative Party has come to terms with why we were kicked out after fourteen years.”
