Woman fumes at ‘worst’ Too Good To Go bag as Greggs offers her ‘soggy limp’ objects
Megan Elden, 21, was left unimpressed after she paid £2.99 for a Too Good To Go bag from Greggs – which was packed with a battered baguette and a sandwich she wouldn’t even feed to her pet
A shopper was left absolutely livid after forking out for what she branded the “worst” Too Good To Go bag ever – crammed with a battered baguette she wouldn’t even offer to her pet.
Megan Elden decided to snap up a bargain after watching TikTok users boast about bags brimming with bakery steals and surprise goodies.
However, when she collected her £2.99 Greggs bag, her enthusiasm rapidly transformed into shock. Rather than the fresh pastries and loaded treats others had flaunted online, the 21-year-old discovered two sorry-looking baguettes – one cheese salad and one tuna crunch – plus a soggy tuna mayo and cucumber sarnie.
She reckoned the bread appeared as if it had “been thrown around for days on end” and the pitiful selection was miles away from the crammed bags worth £15 that others had posted.
“I wasn’t best impressed with the Too Good To Go bag due to its contents,” Megan told What’s The Jam.
“After seeing the TGTG bag trend all over social media, I thought I’d give it a shot. My contents were completely different from the others I had seen.
“The produce itself was in poor condition and looked as though it had been thrown around for days on end between customers.”
Making things even worse, the bag was marked vegetarian despite containing tuna – leaving Megan puzzled and thoroughly let down.
The Coventry shopper acknowledged she grasped the concept behind Too Good To Go – tackling food waste – but reckons some of the items she got were simply beyond saving. She expressed her love for the concept, but felt that some items “are ready for the bin” and shouldn’t be sold, even at a discounted price.
She said: “I understand the concept is to ensure produce does not go to waste; however, I feel there should be a point where they think, ‘maybe this is ready for the bin’.
“This was my first time trying the TGTG bag and I probably would not purchase a Greggs one in the future.
“I feel this TGTG bag was a very controversial one. Some may say you get what you paid for; however, others could argue they wouldn’t even give their animal this produce.
“I do think this is the worst TGTG bag I’ve ever seen.”
Greggs and Too Good To Go have been approached for comment.
