‘Alien ship’ 31/ATLAS makes use of ‘engine’ to speed up in the direction of Earth because it turns odd shade of blue

A mysterious interstellar object, named ‘3I/ATLAS’, has baffled scientists by speeding up past the sun and turning blue, sparking Harvard claims it could be an alien craft

A mysterious interstellar object has stunned scientists by exhibiting bizarre behaviour. The massive entity was observed zooming past the sun, sparking alien spacecraft theories by a Harvard astrophysicist.

NASA has detected the interstellar object, named “3I/ATLAS”, mysteriously accelerating and turning an unusual shade of blue, a phenomena a Harvard scientist says could be evidence of an alien “engine”. The “3I” signifies that it is the third known interstellar object, with the “I” standing for “interstellar” as designated by the Minor Planet Center.

The “ATLAS” part of the name refers to the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System, the astronomical survey that first detected the object.

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb pointed out that 3I/ATLAS displayed non-gravitational acceleration and appeared “bluer than the sun” as it passed by. NASA’s recent observations detected this unusual acceleration, which could be explained by intense outgassing typical of a comet, potentially causing the object to shed half its mass and leave a massive trail of debris.

However, in a recent paper, Loeb argued that both the acceleration and the object’s striking blue hue might actually hint at an artificial origin, possibly an engineered spacecraft. He wrote in a post on Medium: “Alternatively, the non-gravitational acceleration might be the technological signature of an internal engine.

“This might also explain the report on 3I/ATLAS getting bluer than the Sun. For a natural comet this blue colour is very surprising.

“Dust is expected to redden the scattered sunlight, and the surface of 3I/ATLAS is expected to be ~20 times colder than the 5,800 degrees Kelvin at the photosphere of the Sun, resulting in it having a redder colour than the Sun. The blue appearance at perihelion is a ninth anomaly in the list of unexpected properties of 3I/ATLAS.

“It could potentially be explained by a hot engine or a source of artificial light. However, it might instead be a signature of ionised carbon monoxide for a natural comet.”

3I/ATLAS is anticipated to reach its nearest approach to Earth on December 19, passing at a distance of about 167 million miles. This close flyby will offer scientists on Earth their best opportunity to investigate whether the enigmatic object is a natural comet or something artificial.

As Loeb noted: “If we do not observe a massive cloud of gas around 3I/ATLAS in December, it could point to the presence of a ‘propulsion system'”.

Meanwhile, NASA’s Acting Administrator Sean Duffy debunked fears of 3I/ATLAS potentially posing any risk. He wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “NASA’s observations show that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system.”

He further replied to a question from Kim Kardashian: “No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth.”
