MIKEY SMITH: 10 unhinged Donald Trump moments as he says he ‘feels badly’ about Andrew Windsor

A remarkably doddery Donald Trump appeared on CBS’ 60 Minutes last night – for the first time since he tried to sue the legendary news programme. During the interview, he banged on about cashless bail while he was being asked about the cost of living, wouldn’t rule out a 2025 run – and appeared to forget who he was talking about mid-anecdote.

Meanwhile in Trumpworld

  • Trump said he feels ‘badly’ for the Royal Family over Andrew
  • He said he ‘knows nothing’ about a crypto boss he gave a pardon to
  • He threatened to order the Marines to invade American cities

Here’s everything you need to know….

1. Trump said he feels ‘badly’ for the Royal Family

Donald Trump said he feels “badly” for the Royal Family amid the continuing fallout over Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s connections with dead paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaking to reporters on board Air Force One late on Sunday, the US president was asked about the King’s decision to strip his brother of his peerages and the title of prince.

“It’s a terrible thing that’s happened to the (royal) family,” Mr Trump said.

“That’s been a tragic situation. It’s too bad. I feel badly for the family.”

2. ‘A lot of people want me to run again’

Donald Trump was given an opportunity to “set the record straight” about claims of his ambition to remain in office beyond the 2028 election during the 60 Minutes interview. He chose not to do so.

“Well, I don’t even think about it,” he said. “I will tell you, a lot of people want me to run.”

3. Look at all the wars I ended

Trump came to his 60 minutes interview with a printed out sheet of paper with a list of all the wars he claims to have ended written on it.

It’s unclear whether he felt he needed to prove it to reporter Norah O’Donnell by having it written down – or whether he just couldn’t remember which wars he claims to have ended.

4. President Autopen

Trump was challenged over the clemency he granted to Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Crypto firm Binance – which is deeply entangled with Trump’s own Crypto business, .

“Are you ready?” Trump teased, leaning forward. “I don’t know who he is.”

Reminded who he is by O’Donnell, and that he was jailed for facilitating money laundering and allowing terror groups to move money around using his platform, Trump admitted: “Here’s the thing – I know nothing about it. I heard he got a four month sentence, and I heard it was a Biden witch hunt.”

He added: “I know nothing about it because I’m too busy doing the other thing.”

This coming from the man who led a lengthy campaign of abuse directed at Joe Biden, because the his use of the autopen to dish out pardons at the end of his presidency..

5. ‘You don’t have to use that one’

Following an awkward exchange about crime in Washington DC, Trump suggested producers might want to edit one of his answers out of the show.

Which considering that’s what he tried to sue 60 Minutes for doing to a Kamala Harris interview, is quite something.

He asked if O’Donnell, who lives in DC, whether she’d noticed a difference in safety and crime since he deployed National Guard troops and a surge of FBI agents on the streets.

“I think I’ve been working too hard. I haven’t been out and about that much,” she said.

Trump retorted: “Oh, that’s not a fair answer. You see the difference.”

O’Donnell insisted: “I get in my car and go to work and I go home…”

Trump said: “That’s good. You don’t have to use that one. Don’t worry. Don’t worry. I don’t want to embarrass her.”

Economy stupid

6. insists grocery prices are not up

Trump bristled when it was pointed out to him that the stock market being at an all-time high doesn’t directly help people who don’t own, you know, stocks and shares.

And he insisted host O’Donnell was wrong to say the price of groceries was stubbornly continuing to rise.

“No, you’re wrong,” he said, wrongly. “They went up under Biden, now they’re coming down – other than beef which we can solve very quickly.”

According to the Government’s own figures, grocery prices have been on the rise for most of the last five years – and are as much as 7-10% higher than a year ago.

The Surge

7. He threatens to send marines into American cities

O’Donnell asked what he meant when he told the troops in Japan last week that he could, if necessary, send “more than the national guard” into American cities.

“Well if you had to send in the army,” he said, “if you hd to send in the Marines, we could do that.”

He added: “We have a thing called the insurrection act. I could use that, immediately and no judge can ever challenge you on that.”

Asked to clarify whether he was saying he would send the military into American cities, he said: “If I wanted to, I could.”

President of Peace

8. Trump claims China and Russia are doing nuclear tests secretly

Trump appeared to suggest that China and Russia are secretly carrying out nuclear tests without anyone in the international community knowing about it…except him for some reason.

Told by O’Donnell that the only country actually testing weapons is North Korea, Trump said: “Well, Russia’s… no, no. Russia’s testing nuclear weapons…”

Russia is currently testing nuclear capable missiles, but without warheads.

“And China’s testing ’em too. You just don’t know about it,” Trump said.

O’Donnell said: “That would be certainly very newsworthy.”

The Shutdown

9. Trump blamed the shutdown on Democrats and said he won’t be ‘extorted’

Trump says he “won’t be extorted” by Democrats to reopen the government, making clear that he has no plans to negotiate as the government shutdown will soon enter its sixth week.

He claimed Democrats have “lost their way” and predicted they would eventually give in. “I think they have to,” Trump said. “And if they don’t vote, it’s their problem.”

10. He totally forgot who he was talking about mid-anecdote

Trump claimed he’d seen a “very well known Democrat Congressman” on TV who was “fighting like hell for men in women’s sports.”

Asked who he was referring to, Trump replied: “I don’t want to tell you. You’ll be able to check it. Just check your local TV.”
