A UK school has been forced to close today after receiving “threatening messages.” Police are currently at the school and in the surrounding area. The information was released this morning by the Dyfed-Powys Police in Wales.
In a statement, Llwynhendy, Llangennech, Dafen, and Felinfoel Police said: “Due to threatening messages being made online, Dafen CP School in Llanelli will be closed today. Dyfed-Powys Police received information at around 2.30am that required safeguarding action to be taken.”
They added: “Working with Carmarthenshire County Council, a decision has been made to close the school today. There is currently a police presence at the school and surrounding areas, and officers will remain in the area while enquiries are carried out.”
The Facebook post from the local police team prompted dozens of comments, with people seeking more details about the threat. One individual even stated: “I’ve called the police – they will not give any information out.”
Police said updates will be issued when possible to ensure all those affected are kept aware of the situation, reports WalesOnline.
