UK climate set to be a complete washout with 18 hours of heavy rain and energy reduce fears

The Met Office has put numerous yellow weather warnings in place across the country. Forecasters are warning there could be chaos on the roads as well as power cuts

A washout is coming with terrible weather expected in the coming days.

Britain has been hit with three yellow weather warnings for the rest of this week with the country set to be battered by 18 hours of heavy rain.

The North West, South Wales and the South West are set to be hit hardest, with floods expected in many parts of the country.

Rainfall could reach up to two inches in the South, with warnings also in place for Wales and the South West from later today (November 4). Forecasters are now warning there could be chaos on the roads while bus and train services will be affected too by the terrible weather.

Power cuts could even be possible in the worst hit areas with the Met Office urging households to be prepared. The affected areas could be drowned under nearly 100mm of rainfall in just a few hours.

In an update, the Met Office said: “Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance.

“It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items. Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.”

Forecasters have also urged people to keep an eye on the weather reports in their local area, just in case advice changes.

As well as the Met Office, the Environment Agency has also issued warnings. The heavy rainfall is expected to bring chaos to the island’s western shores, with a massive six flood warnings issued by the Environment Agency.

Despite the heavy rainfall expected later, the Met Office has said the weather today is expected to start off being very mild for the time of year, with blustery southwesterly winds.

It follows warnings that parts of the UK are due to be blasted with freezing temperatures this month. According to WXCharts, there’ll be a wintry chill felt across 34 counties on November 18, bringing temperatures down to -1C and icy winds.
