Footballer stabbed to demise as riot breaks out and suspect’s dwelling set on hearth

A young footballer was stabbed to death in the street sparking a furious riot that saw the suspect’s home set ablaze.

Milton Lautaro Sosa was killed during an alleged fight after a birthday party. Police rushed to the scene at around 2.30am following reports of a disturbance to find the 20-year-old lying in a pool of blood on the ground.

The rising football star with Club Bartolome Mitre de Perez was taken to hospital, but died shortly after his arrival. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday (November 2), as reported by NeedToKnow.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while police also seized the knife believed to have been used in the attack.

Officers later detained a 39-year-old man – thought to be the suspect’s father – for firing a .38-caliber pistol at the scene. Cops recovered the weapon and spent casings as evidence.

Hours after the killing, chaos erupted. Enraged locals torched the suspect’s house in Pérez, near Rosario City, Argentina, before rioting outside El Guri Health Centre, where Milton’s body lay.

Windows were smashed as crowds clashed with police, according to local media.

Milton was described as a talented midfielder with a bright future, having impressed for Bartolome Mitre de Perez, who play at the 7,000 capacity Estadio Tito Cucchiaroni, in the Torneo Federal A, one of the two professional leagues that form the regionalised third level of the Argentine football league system.
