Lamine Yamal’s dad proposes to girlfriend 16 years youthful than him as social media reacts
Lamine Yamal’s father has taken to social media to announce his engagement to his partner, Khristina, though some fans were not too pleased by the news, given their 16-year age gap
Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal’s father appears to have announced his engagement to a partner who is 16 years his junior. The news comes as Yamal’s team prepare to face Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Yamal, 18, has been a revelation in La Liga since he emerged from Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy in 2023. He was a runner-up for this year’s Ballon d’Or and played a crucial role in Spain’s Euro 2024 victory.
The Barca phenom is backed by his father Mounir Nasraoui, a Morocco-born painter. Despite his parents separating when he was just three, both have remained present throughout his upbringing.
Nasraoui, who was reportedly stabbed multiple times in a car park last year, recently took to social media and seemingly announced his engagement to partner Khristina. The footballer’s dad, 39, appears set to tie the knot with the 23-year-old.
Sharing a post with his 1.3million Instagram followers, Nasraoui included a black heart emoji and an engagement ring emoji. The photo features him and Khristina together on a balcony.
The couple have faced some criticism from fans who expressed their opinions on the post. Most of the pushback pertains to the 16-year age difference between the pair.
It remains unclear when the pair started dating, but numerous photos of them can be found on social media. Some depict them at Barcelona fixtures wearing matching shirts, while others show them cooking meals together.
Yamal’s father is no stranger to public attention, having previously voiced strong opinions about how Barcelona and others have treated his son. He declared that PSG’s Ousmane Dembele claiming the Ballon d’Or ahead of Yamal represented a “moral injustice” earlier this year.
Speaking to El Chiringuito TV, Nasraoui said: “I think this is the biggest, I won’t say theft, but moral damage done to a human being. I believe Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world by far, by a considerable margin. It’s not because he’s my son but because he’s the best player in the world.
“I believe there are no rivals. Lamine is Lamine Yamal. Something extraordinary has happened here. Next year, there will be a Spanish Ballon d’Or winner.”
Just this month, he escalated this rant by allegedly challenging club bosses over how Yamal was championed for his Ballon d’Or campaign. Nasraoui supposedly laid into several Barca officials, arguing they prioritised team-mate Raphinha over Yamal in the race for the prestigious honour.
He was also said to be scathing about how his son is generally handled and demanded greater acknowledgement. That’s in addition to seeking some exclusive perks and advantages for the teenage attacker, who recently split from his own girlfriend.
Yamal’s father assisted in brokering a fresh contract for his talented son at the Camp Nou last year. This deal is understood to be worth up to £230,000 per week and runs until 2030.
