Tall 7ft2 Tory says he is decided to grow to be political big as it is best to ‘dream huge’
EXCLUSIVE: James McAlpine, dubbed the ‘Never Ending Tory’, sat down with the Daily Star to share his insights on politics and whether we could one day see him entering Downing Street
Britain’s tallest Tory is more determined than ever to reach the top and become a political giant. James McAlpine, 7ft 2in, has his eye firmly on the prize and believes he’s got what it takes to hold high office.
He backed himself to become prime minister one day as it’s important to “dream big” when it comes to the world of politics. Despite his lofty ambitions to enter No.10, he insists his head isn’t in the clouds and that his feet are firmly on the ground.
The 22-year-old, dubbed the ‘Never Ending Tory’, recently visited the Daily Star’s HQ in Canary Wharf, east London where he was made to feel at home among the glittering skyscrapers.
He said: “I am going in the right direction. I am making myself known. I am trying to get myself out there as much as I can into the political world.”
Asked if he saw himself as a future PM, he replied: “I think so. Dream high, dream big. I know what I want and I can get what I want.”
The Oxford Brookes student went viral at the Conservative Party conference in September after he was pictured towering over Tory leader Kemi Badenoch while clutching a copy of the Daily Star. His social media following has soared since then.
And he’s now plotting out his way to the top – although he insists he wants to first launch a career in insurance before running for parliament in order to gain real-world experience.
Taking aim at his political opponents, he accused the Labour government of falling short while he has little time for Reform UK either. The Scottish business undergraduate said: “They are falling far short.
“They promised in an election not to increase any taxes whatsoever for the working people. The first thing when they do when they get into government is increase it all. It’s just unbelievable because they’ve lost their own voters here.”
But he added: “The country needs reforming. What the country doesn’t need is it doesn’t need Reform. The Reform Party are populists.”
He said his party needs to give Ms Badenoch “a bit more of a chance” and insisted she’s “done a great job over the first year”. The political hopeful said: “She’s got a steady hand on the ship that is the Conservative Party.”
He also gave short shrift to ex-PM ‘Lettuce’ Liz Truss, dismissing her as “useless”. The Conservative Party member added: “The lettuce lasted longer than her. I think the lettuce also has a lot more substance in it.
“She has definitely had her time. She had it and she totally blew it.”
