Eight in hospital after faculty minibus hits tree in horror crash

Eight people were rushed to hospital after a school minibus hit a tree in Northern Ireland. The incident Tirgracy Road in Antrim this afternoon (November 11) sparked a major police incident.

A police spokesperson said: “Police and other emergency services attended a one vehicle road traffic collision on the Tirgracy Road in Antrim, shortly before 12.30pm, on Tuesday 11th November.

“A number of people have been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.”

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed eight people were taken to hospital in total – five to Antrim Area Hospital and three to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue service said one appliance attended the scene.

A spokesperson added: “Firefighters were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a mini bus on Tirgracy Road, Muckamore, Antrim.

“A number of people were in the care of NIAS prior to NIFRS arrival and were then transported to hospital via ambulance.

“Firefighters assisted NIAS with first aid and made the area safe. The scene was handed over to the PSNI. The incident was dealt with by 2pm.”
