TV star Kirsty Gallacher slams choose for ‘lack of empathy’ after she’s banned from driving
TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher was handed a six-month driving ban and admitted she ‘feels broken’. She also slammed the judge for showing ‘no empathy’
Kirsty Gallacher has slammed a judge for showing “no empathy” after being hit with a six-month driving ban for speeding — despite already having a string of previous motoring offences.
The Gold Radio presenter, 49, said she “feels broken” after being caught doing 35mph in a 30mph zone near her luxury home in Maidens Green, Berkshire, on April 1 this year.
She begged not to lose her licence, saying she needed it for work and to look after her family but the court did not take pity on her.
Kirsty fumed afterwards: “There’s no empathy. I’m just an ordinary mum with plates spinning, I do everything. With my health as well, it’s going to be very difficult.”
The single mum-of-two, who already had nine points on her licence from three previous speeding offences in September 2023, August 3, 2024, and August 9, 2024, pleaded guilty at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court.
She argued a ban would make life impossible, insisting she relies on her car for school runs, getting to medical appointments and for work.
She pockets £150,000 a year and has around £80,000 in savings, but told the court she couldn’t afford a chauffeur or taxis.
But District Judge Arvind Sharma wasn’t swayed, telling her: “I accept that things will be harder for you, but those are all manageable.
“I don’t accept that your son needs a lift every morning, and you have adequate money saved up that you can use taxis for your children and yourself.”
Kirsty also said she feels “shocked and afraid” after being attacked on a London street recently – revealing for the first time that cops believe it was a targeted attack.
She said: “I was walking to my car. It’s a 12-minute walk. I was walking the same way I always walk. There were lots of people around.
“A gentleman was walking at me on the street. I moved out of the way, I thought it was strange.
“He brushed past me, turned around and kicked me very hard. He assaulted me in the street.
“The police now believe I was targeted, that this was targeted. The police have all the CCTV footage and an image of him.
“I’m broken at the moment, from everything.”
The former Sky Sports News presenter’s record already included a 2017 drink-driving conviction, when she was found to be almost three times over the limit.
In that incident, she was arrested in Eton, Berkshire, after police saw her car being driven erratically.
She was later banned from driving for two years, ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, and fined after admitting driving the morning after boozing heavily the night before.
