Horror Birmingham stabbing as man in 20s dies in road and police swarm in

A murder investigation has now been launched after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death in the street in Birmingham – police and forensic officers have set up a tent and cordoned off the area

A man has died after being stabbed to death on a Birmingham street. The incident happened on Hutton Road in the Handsworth Wood area of the city just after 5pm on Sunday, November 16.

Bystanders attempted to aid the victim, a man in his 20s, before paramedics arrived at the scene. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to save him. A representative for West Midlands Ambulance Service stated: “We were called to reports of a stabbing near to the junction off Stamford Road and Hutton Road at 5.22pm yesterday”, reports Birmingham Live.

“One ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT [Medical Emergency Response and Intervention Team] trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic and the Trust’s critical care car attended the scene.

“An off-duty doctor also stopped to offer assistance. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who had suffered serious injuries and was already receiving medical attention.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

West Midlands Police are in the preliminary stages of their investigation into the incident.

On Monday, a police cordon was set up on Hutton Road, with a police vehicle blocking the road and a blue police tent positioned to the side of the road.

The force is urging any witnesses to step forward.
