Newborn discovered dumped in workplace rest room by cleaner who heard child woman’s cries

A newborn baby girl was found dumped inside an office toilet by a cleaner. The infant, who miraculously survived, was discovered inside a toilet tank in Thailand.

The baby girl was found crying and soaking wet by the worker who was cleaning the third floor of an office building in Bangkok. The worker heard a strange noise coming from the pipes and lifted the cistern lid to find the child stuffed inside. The container was half-filled with water.

She is thought to have been dumped shortly after the birth because the umbilical cord was still partly attached, according to blue News. The baby was naked and her hands had gone pale, wrinkled from the water.

Authorities rushed to the office in the Lat Krabang district at around 11am local time on Saturday. The baby was then rescued and taken to the Sirindhorn Hospital. The girl, weighing just six pounds, was miraculously unharmed.

Police Captain Kritsada Saikhong said: “The baby girl was under a day old. She was a newborn but there was no sign of the mother. We will proceed with the investigation to find who left the baby girl in the toilet. Officers are checking CCTV cameras to establish who was in the building and who used the bathroom.”

The parents face prosecution for abandonment under Thai Penal Code Section 306, which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison, a fine of up to 6,000 baht (140 GBP), or both.

Meanwhile, A baby boy suffered a heart attack and lost half of his tongue after accidentally consuming a lethal drain unblocker, mistaking it for milk.

Sam Anwar, from Highgate, was just 13 months old when he snuck behind his mum, who was cleaning the bathroom in their flat, and drank caustic soda from a white bottle. The young lad sustained severe burns to his mouth, tongue, lips and airways during the summer incident. After suffering a heart attack, he was unconscious for three minutes.

He spent two months in intensive care at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, having lost half of his tongue due to the toxic substance. Unable to eat, he initially had to be fed through his nose.

Doctors expressed shock at the severity of the case in such a young child, stating it was “a-million-to-one he survived”. Now aged 18 months, Sam is back home but is being fed through his stomach.

His father, Nadeem Alshameri, revealed that his son will need a complex operation to “unlock” his mouth and repair the internal burn damage. The father-of-four has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover any medical bills.
