Oasis fan Lee Claydon fell down stairs to his demise at Wembley in ‘tragic accident’
The tragic death of an Oasis fan who plummeted from a height during one of the band’s Wembley gigs has been deemed an “tragic accident”, according to a pre-inquest review.
Lee Claydon, a 45 year old landscape gardener from Bournemouth, Dorset, tragically lost his life following the incident at the London stadium on 2 August. Barnet Coroner’s Court was informed on Wednesday that the police have wrapped up their investigation into Mr Claydon’s untimely demise.
Detective Sergeant James Raffin of the Met Police shared with the court: “From a police point of view, this is no longer a criminal prosecution. We do not suspect any third party involvement.
“This, from everything we have seen, was a tragic accident. From a police point of view, I would say our investigation is complete.”
DS Raffin confirmed he had reviewed a toxicology report and found “no concerns there”.
He acknowledged that Mr Claydon had consumed alcohol, but noted this was “expected” and “normal for any of the people attending”.
The officer also mentioned that he was aware of the family’s concerns about the “circumstances on the night”, and pledged to relay these to officials at Brent Council.
He stated that the force had ruled out suicide and would pass their report to the local authority for further review.
Senior Coroner Andrew Walker announced that the full inquest will be held on February 26 next year.

He stated: “It looks like we are going to be in a position next February to have reports from the London Borough of Brent over the circumstances and also we will have by then the police investigation report.”
The inquest opening for Mr Claydon in September revealed that the Oasis supporter was rushed to a medical facility in Wembley following his fall, where he was declared dead at 10.38pm.
A post-mortem carried out on August 6 determined the provisional medical cause of death as “multiple bodily injuries”.
The tragic incident occurred during one of the rock group’s packed stadium performances as part of their hugely successful Live ’25 comeback tour – marking their first shows since their acrimonious split in 2009.
The band previously released a statement saying: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show.
“Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”
Lee had attended the concert with his brother Aaron, along with his niece and nephew. Senior coroner Andrew Walker said Mr Claydon was transported to a medical facility in Wembley following the fall, where he was pronounced dead at 10.38pm.
His father, Clive, previously maintained his son plunged to his death after losing his footing on spilled beer – and stressed he was “not drunk”.
He previously explained: “There was beer all over the floor, it was really slippery, and Lee just slipped and fell. I’ve been told that it was an accident waiting to happen. It was a horrible, horrible accident.

“All I really know is there was beer everywhere, he slipped, and we don’t know the rest of it. He has never taken drugs in his life and he may have had a beer, who doesn’t at a concert, but he certainly was not drunk.”
In a heartbreaking tribute shared on social media days following his death, his girlfriend Amanda wrote: “I don’t have many words right now… but it’s just not fair, and it’s not right that you’re not here with us.
“But I will never stop loving you! My best friend, my soulmate, and the other half (the sensible and smarter half! ) of our one brain. You were the best person to be around, day or night.
“We went through some tough times, but they only made us stronger. I’m so grateful for the time we had together, even though this cruel world cut it way too short. We had so much to look forward to.
“I will try my best to be strong for all our boys and they will make you so proud. You also have the most amazing family and friends, and we’ll all be there for each other and probably share some memories that you wish they had forgotten.
“Love you so much, and [saying] miss you just doesn’t cut it. I am forever yours, babe. Learning to live without you is something I never thought I’d have to do.”
