Matt Hancock’s jammy life since lewd CCTV snog – regular job, new lover and money bonanza
The disgraced former Health Secretary has come out on top since the Covid scandal put an end to his political career. We take a look at his new job, vast net worth and love life
It’s been nearly five years since Matt Hancock’s political career dramatically imploded in the aftermath of the Covid scandal, but the former Health Secretary is faring rather well.
When people across the country were robbed of precious final moments with their loved ones, Hancock was busy breaking his own lockdown rules, shunning policy in favour of having a steamy affair with his aide Gina Coladangelo. Yet somehow, the disgraced politican has fallen on his feet, managing to reinvent himself into a marketing-guru-slash-reality-TV-star.
In 2021, photograps of Hancock locked in a passionate kiss with Gina inside the Department of Health sparked national fury as millions of Brits kept their distance from their families as Covid-19 spread like wildfire. Forced to step down, his credibility in tatters, the outrageous affair also destroyed his 15-year marriage to Martha Hoyer Millar.

His vast wealth and cushty career since stepping back from frontline politics will still prove painful for those who suffered greatly during the pandemic, with thousands of lives lost. Today, the Covid-19 Inquiry has delivered a damning verdict on Boris Johnson’s handling of the pandemic.
The biggest public inquiry in British history branded government inaction “inexcusable” and said it was repeatedly slow to bring in restrictions, costing thousands of lives and making full lockdowns necessary. It also slammed the culture at Westminster – where Hancock’s affair started – as “toxic”.
Baroness Hallett’s scathing report said: “The pandemic response also exposed wider cultural issues. The very least the public should be entitled to expect is that those making the rules will abide by them. Instances where ministers and advisers appeared to break Covid-19 rules caused huge distress to the public.
“This was especially the case for people who had endured huge personal costs to stick to the rules, with many bereaved people unable to be with their loved ones when they died. Instances where rule-breaking was not swiftly addressed also undermined public confidence and increased the risk of people not complying with the rules designed to protect them.”
Yet, fast-forward to 2025, and Hancock’s life has taken a rather cosy turn. Far from disappearing into the shadows, he has managed to carve out a surprisingly comfortable existence. His stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2022 reportedly bagged him a six-figure sum, adding to an already hefty MP salary of £91,346. While his jungle escapade was met with widespread disapproval, it undeniably boosted his profile and opened doors to more opportunities outside Westminster. In a bid for more screentime, he also appeared on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2023.
Despite failing woefully at marketing his own rules during the pandemic, Hancock is also now head honcho at BBS, his family’s marketing and data management firm where he first started out. His Linkein page boasts: “Matt Hancock is the Managing Director or of BBS, the UK’s leading address data experts.
“He served in the UK Cabinet under three Prime Ministers, and is probably best known for his role as the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from 2018 to 2021, where he led the NHS and the wider UK health system through the Covid pandemic and Chaired the vaccine delivery programme.”
Away from work, his personal life also appears to be blossoming. Hancock and his girlfriend Gina are now reportedly living together in London and are often seen attending exclusive events, dining at posh restaurants, and holidaying in luxurious spots.
Despite public outrage, Coladangelo has remained by his side, and the duo seem determined to show their relationship is more than just a passing scandal. In a move that suggests they’re in it for the long run, the couple have reportedly been discussing future plans, including potential business ventures and media collaborations.
Before she became widely known as Hancock’s aide, Gina was a marketing and communications director at the high street chain Oliver Bonas. She was married to the brand’s founder, Oliver Tress, but the pair quickly split after the scandal erupted.
If Hancock was once known for his political gaffes, he’s now known for his wealth accumulation. His income has significantly increased due to media appearances, public speaking gigs, and a even book deal. In 2021, he penned a self-congratulary book titled ‘The Pandemic Diaries’ which was brimming with excuses and justifications for his role in the chaotic, scandal-ridden Government during the pandemic. His estimated net worth now stands at around £5 million – a significant increase from his pre-scandal days.
