BREAKING Teen killed in office accident as devastated household pay tribute
A teenage girl has tragically lost her life following a workplace accident in Cambridgeshire. Žavinta Petrašiūtė, 19, passed away at Pretoria Energy Mepal near Chatteris earlier this week.
Cambridgeshire Police officers were summoned to the facility at 3pm on Monday, with a force spokesperson confirming that investigations are underway.
The teenager’s father posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, saying: “We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. During this incredibly painful time of losing our daughter we never expected to receive so much kindness unity and warmth from so many people.”

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to help Petrašiūtė’s family bring the teenager’s remains back to her native Lithuania, reports the Mirror.
Ernestas Mag, who established the fundraising appeal, explained: “Alan and Ieva have faced an unimaginable tragedy. Their beloved daughter, Žavinta Petrašiūtė, tragically lost her life yesterday in a workplace accident at Pretorija Energy in Mepal, Chatteris. The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.”
The GoFundMe page describes Petrašiūtė as a “bright, hardworking and kind young woman”, who was “loved and appreciated by everyone who knew her”.
It adds: “The family’s only wish now is to bring Žavinta back home to Lithuania, so she can be laid to rest in her homeland, close to her family and loved ones. However, the costs of repatriation from the United Kingdom and the funeral expenses are extremely high.”

Last month skip boss Daniel Wenn, 35, tragically died after he was caught in a waste sorting machine. Responding paramedics pronounced Daniel dead at the Norman Wenn Skip Hire in Norfolk.
Employees at a neighbouring business reported hearing screams and shouts before an eerie silence fell as the catastrophe took place. Initial findings from an investigation conducted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found Daniel was “entangled in a trommel screen and sustained fatal traumatic injuries”.
A trommel screen is a large rotating cylindrical drum designed to sort materials by size. The Health and Safety Executive has now teamed up with Norfolk Constabulary to launch an investigation into the incident.
Heartfelt tributes have been flooding in for the 35 year old, who is understood to have been a father, and was described by those who knew him as a “lovely guy”.
