A mum who had sex with her daughter’s classmate has been handed 26 years in prison after her own child asked the judge to give her the harshest sentence she could
A cheerleader’s mother has been sentenced to 26-years in prison after admitting she had sex with her daughter’s teenage schoolmates. Leann Yammarino, 45, was an active “cheer mom” in Louisiana but she now won’t be seeing the outside of a prison cell until she’s 70 after committing the heinous act, reports the New York Post.
The hefty sentence came after her own child begged the judge to give the harshest penalty she could for having sex with a 14-year-old and sexting at least five other teenagers, according to WBRZ 2.
Yammarino pleaded no contest to having sex with the boy at her daughter’s school in Ascension. Her young daughter addressed the court on Tuesday and begged for her mum to get the maximum sentence for ruining her family’s life, according to the outlet.
The perverted mother had been heavily involved in the school’s cheerleading squad but has been behind bars since her arrest in July last year. She looked teary-eyed and red-faced in her mug shot and sobbed and bowed her head throughout her sentencing hearing.
Judge Keyojuan Gant-Turner gave the twisted parent the maximum 10 years in prison for both counts she faced for carnal knowledge, plus three years for each indecent behaviour charge.
The consecutive sentences add up to 26 years so Yammarino would be over 70 before she is free again. She will then have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
Ascension District Attorney Ricky Babin had called her a threat because “her victims are minors.” “It wasn’t an isolated incident, so yes, in my opinion, she is” a danger, he told WBRZ 2.
Police were first alerted when the 14-year-old Dutchtown High School student came forward in July 2024, alleging Yammarino had sex with him twice since January. Five other students, ages 14 to 16, then accused the mom of sending them lewd texts, including videos of herself.
Detectives spoke with parents of four juveniles. One parent reported her son had sex with Yammarino in her vehicle and showed an explicit photo he said she sent via Snapchat, according to arrest affidavits.
Detectives interviewed three other boys who said Yammarino sent them nude photos and videos over several months. Two more juveniles later told investigators they also received explicit content from her.
