M56 visitors chaos as all lanes stopped on account of ‘police incident’

All traffic has been stopped on the eastbound side of the M56 motorway near Warrington from junction 11 for Preston Brook to junction 10 for Tarporley Road

Tailbacks are forming on a section of the M56 this morning following a ‘police incident’. All vehicles have been brought to a standstill on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway near Warrington.

Traffic has ground to a halt from junction 11 for Preston Brook to junction 10 for Tarporley Road.

Congestion is severe leading up to the incident, with lengthy queues developing on the eastbound side. Emergency services have descended on the scene this morning, reports the Manchester Evening News.

National Highways announced: “Traffic has been stopped on the #M56 eastbound between J11 and J10 #Warrington due to an ongoing police led incident. All emergency services are in attendance, traffic is building. Updates to follow.”
