Teen woman starved to loss of life by mum was ‘left for days’ on lavatory flooring earlier than cops found her

Kyneddi Miller had been taken out of school during the pandemic, but investigators discovered Kyneddi had left the house just two times in the four years that followed before her death

A mum neglected and starved her teenage daughter – who was found on the bathroom floor after being left in an “emaciated, skeletal state” . Kyneddi Miller’s body lay on a rug on the floor of the bathroom of the family home for days until cops discovered when carrying out a welfare check.

Police found the 14-year-old girl had been neglected so badly by Julie A Miller she succumbed to “an obvious emaciated, skeletal state” at the home in Morrisvale, West Virginia.

Miller, 51, had taken Kyneddi out of school during the Covid pandemic, fearing she would catch the condition and spread it to Miller’s elderly parents, reports the Mirror. Miller had told authorities she intended to home-school her daughter, but instead went on to cruelly abuse her, with Kyneddi leaving the house just two times in the four years that followed.

On Friday, Miller appeared in court on Friday to admit death of a child by a parent, guardian or custodian. It is expected she will be jailed for up to 15 years when she is sentenced in February. She also must register on the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.

Boone County Circuit Court in Morrisvale heard Miller initially denied wrongdoing when she was arrested but changed her plea ahead of a scheduled trial.

Julie’s parents, mother Donna Stone and stepfather Jerry Stone, have also been charged with death of a child by a parent, guardian or custodian.

Jerry was ruled incompetent to stand trial after a court-ordered mental health evaluation in September, but Donna’s trial is scheduled to begin February 24, 2026.

While speaking with investigators, Donna allegedly confirmed Kyneddi had been pulled from school amid the Covid-19 pandemic. A letter was to the school in February 2021, saying she the then-preteen was being pulled from school for fear she might bring the virus home and pass it onto her grandparents.

But investigators found Kyneddi left the house just two times in the past four years that she had allegedly been home-schooled by the family, and hadn’t seen a doctor in that period.

Donna her granddaughter had an unspecified eating disorder, had not been eating for months, and said that she’d become unable to function on her own for several days before her death. However, it was found Miller had failed to provide her daughter with food.

Dan Holstein, prosecuting, said Miller “knew that her child needed that kind of care and that she deliberately didn’t get the care for her”. The sentencing was adjourned for February 25, 2026, at the same court in Morrisvale, West Virginia..
