I’m a Celeb star makes ‘lesbian’ intercourse jokes and places ball again in bag in ‘worst cup draw ever’
The Women’s League Cup draw descended into chaos and wild sexual innuendo with former I’m a Celeb star GK Barry and her England ace girlfriend Ella Rutherford at the helm
Former I’m a Celeb star GK Barry is at the centre of a Women’s Super League storm after ‘the worst cup draw ever’.
The influencer, real name Grace Eleanor Keeling, and her girlfriend, Portsmouth and England star Ella Rutherford, presented the Subway Women’s League Cup quarter-final and semi-final draw, live on WSL Football’s TikTok page, on Tuesday night, (November 25).
Barry, who boasts a TikTok following of more than four million, joked about “lesbians handling balls” at the start of the draw and later referred to sponsor Subway’s famous footlong sandwiches, adding: “Even if you’re a lesbian, get a footlong.”
The 26-year-old Saving Grace podcast host grabbed the bag containing the balls and hit it against her bottom, saying: “Give it a shake, a spank for good luck.” But chaos ensued when she sparked “fix” claims, after appearing to pick out a numbered ball before accidentally putting it back into the bag, while determining the first of two semi-finals.
After realising her mistake, she laughed it off, asking: “Am I allowed to do that?” She added “I’ve done it now, it’s too late,” before pulling the same number out and saying: “Oh, I picked up the same ball.”
The social media star, a former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestant and Loose Women panellist, also repeatedly joked that she did not know how the process worked, questioned how good teams were and asked what colour Liverpool and Chelsea play in.
She then caused outrage among some fans when she joked “what do we think of Tottenham?” – a reference to an anti-Spurs chant sung by Arsenal supporters.
It’s reported that one of the clubs involved in the draw has asked WSL Football to provide footage of the draw, which is currently unavailable to watch on social media or WSL Football’s YouTube channel, while WSL is also said to have issued an apology to Tottenham.
An official adjudicator was present at the draw and confirmed because the same ball was picked, it did not impact the overall outcome and therefore the process remained valid. Had the same ball not been chosen, the process would have been restarted.
But fans were not impressed, with one writing on X: “Surely it’s void.” Another posted: “Blatant cheating I guess.” A third commented: “Embarrassing, start to finish.” And a fourth posted: “Worst draw ever.”
Tottenham were drawn against Manchester United in the quarter-finals, with north London rivals Arsenal set to face Crystal Palace.
Liverpool will take on reigning champions Chelsea, while Manchester City travel to West Ham.
