Holly Willoughby dealing with courtroom listening to as former This Morning star is charged with ‘driving carelessly’ in her Mini Cooper

Holly Willoughby will face a court hearing after the former This Morning star was charged with ‘driving carelessly’ in her Mini Cooper.

The television personality is set to appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court next week.

Ms Willoughby is said to have committed the offence while driving her Mini Cooper near her multi-million pound home in London on August 28.

According to sentencing guidelines, she faces up to nine penalty points, a fine and in the most severe cases a driving ban.

The charge under section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 can cover a range of activities including applying makeup, arguing with passengers, being distracted behind the wheel, or tailgating another vehicle.

In documents, seen by The Sun, Ms Willoughby’s married name appears on a list of cases to be heard on Tuesday.

She could appear in person but is more likely to enter a plea without attending.

Ms Willoughby’s court summons comes after a difficult few years for the star.

In 2023, she had a very public falling out with her ex-work husband and This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield after his relationship with a younger male co-worker was uncovered, culminating with Mr Schofield leaving the show he fronted for over 20 years.

That same year, Ms Willoughby dramatically stepped down as host of the Breakfast TV show after a stalker threatened to kidnap and rape her.

Last Month, Gavin Plumb was unanimously convicted of soliciting murder and encouraging or assisting others to rape and kidnap Ms Willoughby following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The 38-year-old from Harlow, in Essex, was sentenced at the same court in July to life in prison with a minimum term of 16 years.

In February 2025, Ms Willoughby made her hotly anticipated return to the small screen as the host of Netflix’s Celebrity Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls. However, that was axed after one season.

Then a month later, ITV announced that Dancing on Ice, which Ms Willoughby has presented since 2006, would be ‘rested’ next year following poor ratings.

But Ms Willoughby remains one of the most popular TV personalities in the UK and is hotly tipped as the favourite to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as the host of Strictly Come Dancing next year.

The Daily Mail have approached representatives of Ms Willoughby for a comment.
