Emergency services have rushed to Tantanoola, a regional town 413km south of Adelaide near the Victorian border, after the pair reportedly encountered trouble about 10.30am on Sunday.

It is understood the pair were diving at Tank Cave, a nature preserve, just south of the town on the Princes Highway.

A SA Ambulance spokesperson confirmed that a diver has been trapped by rocks while another member of the party is currently unaccounted for.

Tank Cave, a popular diving spot, is located just 3.9km from Tantanoola Caves Conservation Park.

Tantanoola Caves Conservation Park, which is home to one of the best cave systems in the state, is known for its easy accessibility and beautiful pink and brown formations.
