West Ham United legend Billy Bonds dies aged 79 as household pay tribute to ‘beloved dad’

A West Ham United legend has sadly passed away at the age of 79 as the club and his family pay tribute to one of the greatest to play in English football.

The Hammers posted of the sad passing of their former legendary player, coach and manager Billy Bonds MBE this morning (November 30).

On behalf of his family, West Ham United published at statement on their website: “We are heartbroken to announce that we lost our beloved Dad today. He was devoted to his family and was the most kind, loyal, selfless, and loving person.

“Dad loved West Ham United and its wonderful supporters with all his heart and treasured every moment of his time at the Club.

“He will always be in our hearts and eternally missed. We take comfort knowing that his legacy will live on forever.”

West Ham also confirmed that a “period of appreciation to honour Billy” will be held today before kick-off at today’s game against Liverpool.

They also stated that a full tribute will take place at The Hammers next home fixture against Aston Villa, on December 14.
