Blackpool stabbing as police swarm McDonald’s on promenade in daylight incident

Police swarmed a McDonald’s at a popular UK seaside destination after reports of a stabbing in broad daylight.

The incident at McDonald’s on Blackpool’s usually busy promenade saw police called around 12:24pm on Monday (December 1).

Officers raced to the scene to find a man, in his 30s, with a stab wound and quickly rushed him to hospital.

There were also reports from eyewitnesses that armed response officers were also deployed to the scene on Blackpool Promenade.

Lancashire Police confirmed that a 38-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the case and is currently in custody.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at 12.24pm yesterday (December 1) to McDonald’s, Promenade, Blackpool, to a report of assault.

“Our officers attended and found that a man in his 30s had suffered a stab wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

“A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and is currently in custody.”

Speaking to local publication The Gazette, a passer-by who did not see the incident told them: “Loads of police (4 or 5 cars) just swarmed the McDonald’s opposite Blackpool South Pier, including an armed response jeep .”

Lancashire Police have asked for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to please contact 101 – quoting log 0500 of December 1.
