Snooker fan ‘attacked by his personal hand’ throughout UK Championship interval

A snooker fan left fans baffled on Thursday evening as he was attacked by his own hand during an interval at the UK Championship in astonishing scenes

A snooker fan was attacked by his own hand in a baffling moment aired on TNT Sports during the UK Championship.

During the interval, TNT Sports cut to an overview show of the arena – when one cheeky fan clocked he was in shot with a thumbs up. He then started to use his hand as a puppet, waving it around in shot.

The puppet then made its way to the man, attacking him as they both fell off screen. TNT shared the moment on their X, formerly known as Twitter account, joking: “A fan steals the show during the UK Championship interval.”

“Man, I hope that member of the audience is okay after his own hand attacked him,” one fan responded. While a second said: “Distressing scenes…”

“Stealing the spotlight during an important event shows how unpredictable and captivating live moments can be,” a third responded, with a presumably AI generated post.

Zhang Anda produced a superb potting display to defeat world champion Zhao Xintong 6-2 and advance to the quarter-finals in the shock of the evening.

“I played so well, there were three frames where I scored heavily and Xintong did not play well. It was my day,” Zhang told BBC Sport.

“In the first session, I made two centuries and it was very good stuff from me. In the fourth frame, I missed some simple shots but I told myself to forget it – I am playing well, I can beat him.”

He will now face will now face Shaun Murphy.

Murphy came from 4-1 and 5-3 down to defeat John Higgins 6-5 in a dramatic decider, which he described as “one of the best wins” of his life.
