Arne Slot’s Liverpool struggled once again in the Premier League as they twice threw away the lead in a wild 3-3 draw with Leeds, culminating in a 96th minute equaliser

Liverpool twice let the lead slip to draw 3-3 in a wild clash with Leeds – what you need to know

  • After a dull first half, Liverpool seized control of Saturday’s Premier League clash at Elland Road. Hugo Ekitike scored twice in two minutes to give the Reds a 2-0 lead.
  • Ibrahima Konate’s mistake gave Leeds a route back into the game as he conceded a penalty. Anthony Taylor awarded the spot kick after a VAR review and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored to halve the deficit.
  • Liverpool’s collapse was completed moments later when Anton Stach equalised just minutes later.
  • Despite leaving Salah and Isak on the bench, it looked as though Slot would get a reprieve through Szoboszlai’s late goal to put Liverpool 3-2 up
  • But in the last minute, Ao Tanaka scored a dramatic last-gasp equaliser to send the home fans wild. He scored from a corner deep into injury time to leave Liverpool 8th in the Premier League table.
  • Slot’s men are now one point behind city rivals Everton, and ten points off Arsenal at the top.
  • Leeds meanwhile climb to 16th, ahead of Nottingham Forest and three points clear of the relegation zone. West Ham do however have a game in hand
