A glam model has been left fighting for her life two weeks after vanishing, having suffered a brutal beating and needing urgent brain surgery to reduce swelling
A glam Instagram model who vanished without trace after breaking up with her mystery boyfriend has been found – fighting for her life in hospital. Angelika Tartanova underwent life-saving surgery to reduce swelling on her brain after reportedly being attacked.
The Russian beauty, 33, was last seen on November 21 when she told her gym instructor she had moved out of the flat she shared with the man, known only as Dmitry, after a row. Friends said they’d planned to meet on November 30, but her phone went dead.
Her pals raised the alarm on November 28 when she stopped answering their calls. They found half-packed suitcases in her room and signs of a struggle. Her apartment key was found in her mailbox in Moscow.
Anzhelika was found on December 9 in Pirogov City Clinical Hospital No. 1, where she had spent two weeks in intensive care and remained in critical condition. She was conscious but unable to speak, local media reported.
Doctors diagnosed her with serious head injuries and she underwent a life-saving craniotomy due to severe brain swelling. When she woke up, she told doctors her boyfriend had beaten her, local media reported.
Angelika, originally from Krasnodar in southern Russia, moved to Moscow several years ago after a divorce, leaving behind her 16-year-old son and parents.
Six months ago, she is said to have found love with a “prestigious but mysterious” boyfriend friends only knew as Dmitry. She didn’t show any photos to family or friends, but she insisted he owned his own construction firm and was very generous to her.
But she reportedly told them he sometimes seemed a bit jealous and stopped her from socializing with her friends. A friend told local media that Angelica spent several days outside the city, where Dmitry was building a house.
She reportedly told another friend that her new man was covering her expenses, buying her clothes, helping her with her gym membership and pampering her with gifts.
She said in a text to a pal: “I’ve probably been looking for him my whole life. I hope I don’t jinx it. I thought there were no more like him. It’s always me who does everything.”
Her loved ones became worried when her daily texts and calls suddenly stopped. Dmitry hadn’t contacted her family or announced his involvement in the search, it was reported.
Angelika’s family later learned that he had been married twice and was raising three children. Police in Russia are said to be investigating.
