Murder probe launched after police make grim discovery exterior pub
A man has died in an alleyway near a pub in Ewell, Surrey after he was found with serious injuries – police have cordoned off the area and released an update on their investigation
A murder probe has been launched following the grim discovery of a man’s body outside a pub.
The unidentified man lost his life in an alleyway in Surrey, having been found with severe injuries in broad daylight. His body was discovered next to The Wheatsheaf on Kingston Road, Ewell around 3.30pm on Tuesday, December 9. Paramedics were swiftly on the scene near the pub, but despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead shortly after, reports the Mirror.
Surrey and Sussex Police have since launched a murder investigation. Detective Superintendent Chris Friday, the Senior Investigating Officer, expressed: “Firstly, I would like to pay my heartfelt condolences to the man’s family and friends for their loss.”
He acknowledged local concerns, stating: “I know that there will be a lot of concern and speculation in the local community this evening about what has happened, and I would like to reassure you that we are working at pace to establish the exact circumstances of this man’s death and identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.”
He thanked the local residents for their patience and cooperation during this time, adding: “I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area round the time of the incident, or with any other information about what has happened, to come forward as soon as possible. I would also appeal to anyone in the vicinity with doorbell or CCTV footage to make contact with us as a matter of urgency.”
Kingston Road and Chessington Road have been shut in both directions, as confirmed by the police, with a cordon established.
